The Dorothy L. Sayers Society

The Dorothy L. Sayers Society was founded in 1976 to promote the study of the life and works of Dorothy L. Sayers, to encourage the performance of her plays and the publication of books by and about her, to collect her other writings and to propagate knowledge of this great scholar, and author and her achievements.

It acts as forum and information center, putting members in touch with other workers and with sources of information, and providing material from its archives for research and study. It collects memories of Dorothy L. Sayers and copies of unique material to safeguard for posterity. Its list of archives items is amended annually and sent free on request for the use of members only. A seminar is held annually in late summer with distinguished speakers dealing with aspects of her work or life. A regular program of cultural events is held during the census in Witham and elsewhere. A notice in placed in The Times of 17th December, the anniversary of her death. Six Bulletins a year are issued dealing with publications, news and commentaries of DLS interest.

The Society is registered as a charity and is run by voluntary effort. The annual subscription is decided at the annual general meeting held in November and covers membership for the subsequent calendar year. The current subscription is $18.00 or 9L
